Short Description
A cosmetic dental procedure that reshapes teeth or gums by removing small amounts of enamel or gum tissue for a more balanced appearance.
Long Description
Recontouring, also known as enamel shaping or odontoplasty, is a cosmetic dental procedure that involves removing small amounts of enamel to improve the shape, length, or surface of a tooth. It is commonly used to correct minor imperfections such as uneven edges, slight overlaps, or chipped areas.
In some cases, gum recontouring is performed to reshape the gumline and enhance the appearance of the smile. This procedure is often used for patients with excessive gum tissue (gummy smile) or uneven gum margins. Sometimes referred to as “periodontal plastic surgery”.
Recontouring is a painless procedure that provides immediate results with minimal discomfort. Because enamel does not regenerate, only small adjustments can be made to maintain tooth strength. It is often combined with other cosmetic treatments, such as bonding or veneers, for optimal results.
