Composite (filling material)

C

Short Description

A tooth-colored filling made of resin that blends with natural teeth for a more aesthetic restoration.

Long Description

Composite resin is a dental material used for fillings, bonding, and minor cosmetic repairs. It is made from a mixture of plastic resin and fine glass particles, and is known for its ability to match the color of natural teeth.

Composites are applied in layers and cured (hardened) with a special light. They are ideal for front teeth or visible areas, though advances in materials have made them more durable for use in back teeth as well.

While not as long-lasting as metal fillings under heavy pressure, composite fillings are highly valued for their appearance and for requiring less removal of natural tooth structure during placement.
