Anaerobic Bacteria

A

Short Description

Bacteria that thrive without oxygen and are commonly found in deep gum pockets and abscesses.

Long Description

Anaerobic bacteria are microorganisms that do not require oxygen to survive and grow. In the mouth, they are often found in areas with limited airflow, such as deep gum pockets, dental abscesses, or the root canals of infected teeth.

These bacteria contribute significantly to periodontal disease, where they break down tissues and cause inflammation, and can lead to serious infections if not treated promptly. They are also common in endodontic infections.

Treatment typically involves deep cleanings, root canal therapy, or antibiotics, depending on the severity of the infection. Managing anaerobic bacteria is key to controlling oral infections and maintaining healthy gums and teeth.
