Overjet Wins Fierce Innovation Award for DSO Analytics

News, Providers4 December, 2024

In August, we launched DSO Analytics: the first AI-powered analytics suite built for dental groups. And today, we’re excited to announce that DSO Analytics has won Best Analytics solution at the Fierce Healthcare Innovation Awards!

Fierce Healthcare is the world’s top publication for healthcare technology news. Its expert panel of judges reviewed the hundreds of submissions, across not only dentistry but all of healthcare, to find the innovations that will “make the greatest impact” for both providers and patients.

Ultimately, this award is more proof that our mission — to improve oral health outcomes with artificial intelligence — is becoming a reality.

WHAT MAKES DSO ANALYTICS UNIQUE?

Today, there are countless analytics tools that help healthcare organizations operate more efficiently. These tools give leaders insights on everything from patient history and risk factors, to medical costs and revenue, to relationships with payers and providers.

However, only one healthcare analytics tool directly improves the care that patients receive: DSO Analytics.

DSO Analytics is the first analytics suite that empowers DSOs to provide better outcomes for patients — across every single clinic and clinician they support. This is possible because DSO Analytics is based on Overjet’s AI analysis of patients’ actual X-rays, in addition to data that other analytics tools collect, like past procedures and treatment plans. The result is that dental leaders now have clinical intelligence, not just business intelligence.

Overjet is the only AI platform that is cleared by the FDA to detect, segment, and quantify oral diseases — such as cavities and calculus — as well as anatomical structures and restorations. Thousands of dentists use Overjet to diagnose patients with an unmatched level of precision. For example, in our rigorous clinical studies, 100% of dentists were more accurate in detecting cavities when using our AI, while 92% of dentists were more accurate in detecting calculus. This groundbreaking technology is what makes DSO Analytics unlike any other analytics solution.

WHY IS CLINICAL INTELLIGENCE CRITICAL?

For the first time, DSOs can answer the most important questions about the care they deliver: Which diseases are we struggling to consistently treat, compared to similar dental groups? Which dentists are the most effective at getting patients to accept their recommendations, and what specifically are they doing well? DSO Analytics makes it easy to investigate these questions at any level of detail, from a 10,000-foot view of the organization, down to Overjet’s AI findings on an individual patient’s X-ray.

Many DSOs are already taking advantage of clinical intelligence. For example, Affinity Dental Management is using DSO Analytics to provide individualized support and training to its clinicians, with a level of detail that simply wasn’t possible before:

“I oversee a vast team of dentists and hygienists across 45 locations, making it impractical for me to be present with each of them simultaneously,” she Dr. Mariz Tanious, Affinity’s Chief Dental Officer. “With Overjet, I can now identify our highest-performing practices, recognize missed care opportunities, and find out when patients opt out of treatment. This technology brings me as close as possible to each operatory — without being there in person. Every dentist at the clinic level and every Chief Dental Officer in a DSO should implement Overjet.”

Clinical intelligence is especially important in dentistry, which is increasingly defined by DSOs. These organizations often manage hundreds of affiliated dental practices, which makes it challenging for clinical leaders to understand and improve the care they provide across all of their locations. For instance, a clinic in California might be particularly successful at performing crown procedures, while another clinic in Utah might be below average. Yet the DSO overseeing the clinics would have no simple way to determine the root cause of this gap and perform the appropriate training.

DSO Analytics transforms persistent problems like this one into clear action plans. It shines a light on the most impactful opportunities for DSOs to focus their resources, and gives them the insights to make fast and precise improvements across the organization.

For these reasons, we believe that DSO Analytics will improve oral health for billions of patients around the world.
